30 Years Later Gallipoli Radiant Still Brings the Heat

Father-Son Duo Pioneer Radiant Heating in New Mexico

Vince Gallipoli and his son Glenn Gallipoli of Gallipoli Radiant have been setting up radiant heating systems in the Albuquerque area for over 30 years. Vince pioneered the concept when his family moved to Albuquerque in 1975, from New York, where hydronic heating systems are a standard in homes. The father and son team have been praised nationally for bringing more heat to the desert by installing high quality radiant heating systems in new homes and custom homes for about the same price as a square foot of floor tile.

What is Radiant Heating?

Radiant heating is one of the oldest forms of heating and provides a clean, quiet and comfortable source of heat that is delivered through a grid of pipes throughout the foundation of a home. Hot water is circulated through this grid which provides even temperatures throughout the home and making warm floors during the heating season an experience to look forward to. Radiant heating does not blow hot air and dust around so allergens are significantly reduced while retaining the relative humidity. Radiant heating systems also add value to the home. Radiant heating systems require little maintenance and some systems can last as long as the house is still standing.

The Importance of Using an Expert

Because radiant heating is part of the concrete foundation, it is important that the system is installed correctly. “Radiant heating is a science” says Glenn Gallipoli. There is so much more to it than installing tubing everywhere. After 30 years of working in Albuquerque homes, Vince and Glenn know what areas need heat first, the correct direction of water flow, tubing lengths and maximizing zoning. It’s also just as important to know when not to have a lot of heat in an area. Systems that are installed correctly will not have long response times, uneven floor temperatures, too many rooms on one zone and most important will cost less to operate than a forced air system. Vince once called his system “The Plain Vanilla System” meaning that keeping it simple is the best and most efficient method of installing radiant heating.

Gallipoli’s going strong

After 30 years and thousands of systems installed, Vince and Glenn are still bringing heat to the Albuquerque desert. Vince is a long time member of the Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico and is well respected in the building community. Glenn carries the family legacy on by installing radiant systems with the latest in high efficiency technology. Comfort is the most important factor when installing a radiant heating system said Vince. The homeowner should experience comfortable and even heating throughout their home, especially homes with tile floors.  After pioneering the concept 30 years ago, Glenn and Vince have perfected the radiant heating system. Vince and Glenn brought heat to the desert because even homes in the Southwest can have cold floors. The Gallipoli’s pioneered the concept and they continue to bring heat to the Albuquerque desert.
